Magna Carta

The Magana Carta said that everyone had to follow certain laws, even the king. The Magna Carta listed rights that the  and king could not ignore. One effect from the Magna Carta was that they had to be charged with a crime before they they were sent to prison. Usually, the kings were just able to walk up to someone, and they could arrest them if they did a crime, or for no reason, they just felt like it. King John was included in this law following because there was sixty-three demands that English nobles made King John agree to follow. King John was called "Lack Land" probably because he didn't follow any of the laws until the Magna Carta. The immediate effects of the Magna Carta were, required the king to honor certain right. Among these rights was the habeas corpus: could not be kept without a reason. The parliament was the lawmaking body that governs England today.
